We are looking for an exceptional Social Copywriter & Content Creative to help make R4 one of the most visible, distinctive and talked-about businesses in our industry. You will work directly with our Marketing Director and Founder & CEO, taking what is happening inside R4 every day and turning it into content people actually want to read, watch, share and talk about. You will write and create for both R4's channels and our Founder & CEO's social presence, understanding that they are connected but should never sound the same. This is not community management. It is not filling a content calendar. Your job is to find the story before somebody has to tell you there is one.

YOUR MISSION

Make R4 difficult to miss and even harder to forget. Social media for us is not the end product. It is a distribution engine for opportunity.

WHO WE WANT TO REACH

  • Brand Directors and Founders
  • Procurement teams
  • Media owners and industry partners
  • Journalists and industry leaders
  • The brands we have not met yet

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

  • Write exceptional social copy across LinkedIn and other relevant platforms.
  • Write and develop content for our Founder & CEO's personal channels, capturing his voice, opinions, experience and perspective without turning it into manufactured personal branding.
  • Build distinctive content for R4's corporate channels.
  • Work alongside the Marketing Director to turn wider marketing priorities, campaigns and opportunities into social content that travels.
  • Find stories, opinions and content opportunities from across the business rather than waiting to be briefed.
  • Turn R4's client work, results and successes into compelling stories rather than predictable case studies.
  • Make Trade. Plan. Activate. understandable, interesting and commercially relevant.
  • Explain media trading, volume-based discount, planning, activation, technology and measurement without making them sound complicated or dull.
  • Interview people across R4 and extract the interesting story from what they are doing.
  • Identify wins, insights, data, campaigns, partnerships and developments worth publishing.
  • Create recurring editorial formats and content franchises that become recognisable as R4.
  • React intelligently and quickly to relevant industry news, cultural moments and market conversations.
  • Write articles, opinion pieces, website copy, campaign copy, case studies and thought leadership when required.
  • Develop hooks, scripts and concepts for short-form video.
  • Work with designers, videographers and creatives to turn strong ideas into excellent content.
  • Understand SEO and search behaviour so our content creates visibility beyond social.
  • Maintain an organised publishing pipeline without allowing the calendar to dictate the creativity.
  • Track what performs, understand why and use that intelligence to make the next piece better.

TWO VOICES. ONE AMBITION.

R4 Confident Commercial Clear Distinctive. The company voice should demonstrate our thinking, capability, work, people, technology and point of difference.

THE FOUNDER

Leadership Building R4 Media and business People and decisions Lessons and opinions Things that worked - and things that did not. Your job is to understand the difference between the two voices and make both stronger.

OPPORTUNITY IS EVERYWHERE

We do not believe content begins with a content calendar. It begins by paying attention. A client result can become a story. A conversation with a media owner can become an insight. A piece of trading data can challenge an industry assumption. A new employee can demonstrate where R4 is heading. A meeting can produce an opinion. A campaign going live can become content. A market change can create a point of view. A question from a prospect can become tomorrow's post.

THE QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD CONSTANTLY ASK

  • What's interesting here?
  • Why would anybody care?
  • What does R4 think about it?
  • How do we make people stop scrolling?
  • What commercial opportunity could this create?

THE STANDARD

  • Ideas with tension.
  • Copy with a point of view.
  • Opening lines that earn the second line.
  • Stories rather than corporate announcements.
  • Opinions rather than recycled observations.
  • Work somebody wants to send to a colleague.
  • Content that feels unmistakably R4.

Some ideas will work brilliantly. Some will not. We would rather intelligently test something ambitious than spend a year producing content nobody remembers.

ORIGINAL THINKING & AI

Use AI. Use technology. Use every tool available to make yourself faster and better. But never outsource the thinking. We are hiring your brain, judgement, curiosity and ability to write. You should be capable of sitting in front of a blank page and finding the idea yourself. If the finished work sounds like it could have been written by any agency, for any agency, it is not good enough.

COMMERCIAL CREATIVITY

We are not trying to become internet famous. We are building a business. Attention matters because of what attention can create. Visibility Recognition Authority Trust Conversation. You should understand the difference between content that generates engagement and content that changes how an important decision-maker sees our business.

YOU

  • An outstanding writer - not simply somebody who can write copy.
  • Understand rhythm, tension, simplicity, structure and tone.
  • Can make a complicated idea feel obvious.
  • Can turn hours of conversation into a few lines worth reading.
  • Know when the first line is not good enough and when to cut.
  • Understand social platforms without being controlled by their conventions.
  • Curious about advertising, business, brands, media, technology and culture.
  • Notice things other people miss.
  • Ask questions and have opinions.
  • Challenge briefs and bring ideas into meetings.
  • Comfortable working with senior people.
  • Can capture somebody else's voice without losing authenticity.
  • Commercially aware enough to understand why the work matters.
  • Organised enough to turn creativity into consistent output.
  • Agency experience would be useful, but it is not essential. Your portfolio, ideas and quality of thinking matter considerably more than whether your CV followed the expected route.

WORKING WITH THE MARKETING DIRECTOR

Work as a close creative partner to the Marketing Director. Turn marketing priorities, audiences, campaigns and commercial opportunities into ideas and content. Bring proactive ideas rather than waiting for briefs. Connect social activity to the wider marketing and new-business strategy. Create a constant feedback loop between strategy, creativity, distribution and commercial opportunity.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • More of the right people know R4.
  • More people understand what makes our model different.
  • More senior marketers encounter our thinking.
  • More prospects arrive already knowing something about us.
  • More conversations begin because somebody saw something we published.
  • More talented people want to work here.
  • Our Founder has a stronger and more influential voice within business and media.
  • R4 develops recognisable ideas and content formats competitors begin noticing.
  • Social and content activity contributes demonstrably to the commercial growth of the company.
  • When an opportunity exists for R4, we are visible enough, credible enough and distinctive enough to be considered for it.

WHAT YOU GET

We're looking for exceptional creative talent, and we recognise that exceptional people don't always fit neatly into predetermined salary brackets. Tell us what you're worth. Offices in Cardiff, London and other locations, with flexibility on where you're based. 25 days annual leave, plus UK bank holidays. Private healthcare is available after the successful completion of probation. Company pension scheme, with employer contribution. Company laptop and full working setup provided.
