Job Title: Desktop Engineer (DBS Cleared)
Location: Reading
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Ongoing (Full-time, Onsite)
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Desktop Engineer to provide onsite IT support in Reading. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting a wide range of IT systems, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations for staff and students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1st–2nd line desktop support across Windows, macOS, and iOS environments
- Support Microsoft 365, Azure, and Google Workspace for Education
- Install, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop hardware/software
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to networking (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VLAN, wireless)
- Work with Apple products (MacBooks, iPads, iPhones) and peripheral devices
- Provide excellent customer service and technical guidance to end-users
Skills & Experience Required:
- 2+ years’ experience in a Desktop Support/Engineer role
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS (Windows 10/11) and macOS
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365/Azure administration
- Familiarity with Google G Suite/Workspace for Education
- Experience supporting Apple hardware and iOS devices
- Good understanding of network fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VLAN, wireless troubleshooting)
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Must hold an active DBS clearance
