Job Description

Job Title: Desktop Engineer (DBS Cleared)

Location: Reading

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Ongoing (Full-time, Onsite)

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Desktop Engineer to provide onsite IT support in Reading. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting a wide range of IT systems, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations for staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1st–2nd line desktop support across Windows, macOS, and iOS environments
  • Support Microsoft 365, Azure, and Google Workspace for Education
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop hardware/software
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to networking (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VLAN, wireless)
  • Work with Apple products (MacBooks, iPads, iPhones) and peripheral devices
  • Provide excellent customer service and technical guidance to end-users

Skills & Experience Required:

  • 2+ years’ experience in a Desktop Support/Engineer role
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS (Windows 10/11) and macOS
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365/Azure administration
  • Familiarity with Google G Suite/Workspace for Education
  • Experience supporting Apple hardware and iOS devices
  • Good understanding of network fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VLAN, wireless troubleshooting)
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must hold an active DBS clearance
