We are a main franchise holder for various brands of commercial vehicle and passenger vehicle. Crawfords are seeking an experienced Commercial Vehicle & Motor Vehicle Technician in Writtle, Essex and Charing, Kent. You will be responsible for carrying out high quality servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on a range of commercial vehicles, motor vehicles, and agricultural machinery. This role supports the smooth operation of the service department by ensuring all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to manufacturer standards.

Technicians will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults, perform routine maintenance, prepare vehicles for customer delivery, and complete detailed service reports. The role involves working closely with the service team, maintaining workshop standards, and delivering excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out scheduled service maintenance & inspection
  • Carry out fault-finding and diagnosis of customer concerns and vehicle defects
  • Complete pre-delivery inspections on new and pre-owned vehicles
  • Promote dealership services & products to customers
  • Service and repairs of ATV's & off-road / on road equipment
  • Tyre replacements and wheel alignment
  • Attend manufacturers' training courses
  • Complete job cards & work orders using various software platforms
  • Utilise laptop diagnostics and service systems - understanding of vehicle manufacturers wiring diagrams and technical documentation
  • Work alongside and communicate with customers, colleagues, manufacturers, and suppliers
  • Maintain a high standard of workshop housekeeping
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior technicians and apprentices
  • Understanding of BEV vehicles advantageous
Experience and Attributes:
  • Working on off road vehicles advantageous
  • Own tooling will be required, special tooling will be supplied along with PPE
  • A general level of computer literacy is required
  • Can use your own initiative and are efficient with time
  • Able to effectively communicate both written and verbally and be an active team member
  • To adapt and take on new skills and approaches and participate in training and development activities
  • To be flexible during busy times to work additional hours as required with the potential to go on a split shift pattern.
