  • Job Overview

The Deep Drainage Gang is responsible for carrying out the installation, construction, and maintenance of deep drainage systems on civil engineering and construction projects.

The gang will work safely and efficiently to project drawings, specifications, and site requirements.

Main Duties

  • Set out drainage runs, manholes, chambers, and associated structures in accordance with drawings and specifications.
  • Excavate trenches to the required depth, line, level, and gradient.
  • Install and connect drainage pipes, fittings, manholes, catchpits, and other drainage structures.
  • Operate and work around excavators, lifting equipment, pumps, and other site plant as required.
  • Install trench support, shoring, or temporary works where required.
  • Prepare trench bases and bedding materials to the specified requirements.
  • Check pipe levels, gradients, and alignment throughout the installation.
  • Carry out backfilling and compaction in accordance with the project specification.
  • Undertake dewatering and manage groundwater where necessary.
  • Work safely around deep excavations, existing services, plant, and live site operations.
