We are seeking an experienced and proactive Mechanical Supervisor to join our team on a high profile commercial refurbishment project. Working for a leading M&E subcontractor, you will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical installation works from procurement through to commissioning and final handover, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, to the highest quality standards, and within budget.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong individual who can effectively manage site activities while maintaining a clear understanding of commercial objectives and project performance.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate all mechanical installation activities on site.
- Manage and oversee mechanical works throughout the project lifecycle, including procurement, construction delivery, commissioning, and final handover.
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with project specifications, drawings, programme requirements, and industry standards.
- Monitor labour, subcontractors, and material resources to achieve efficient project delivery.
- Work closely with the Project Manager, Commercial Team, Design Team, and Client representatives to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and design information, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
- Support procurement activities by reviewing material requirements, monitoring deliveries, and ensuring timely availability of plant and equipment.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, and snagging activities, ensuring systems are fully operational and compliant prior to handover.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance across all site activities.
- Conduct regular site inspections, toolbox talks, and progress meetings.
- Assist in identifying variations, managing change, and supporting commercial reporting where required.
- Ensure accurate site records, progress reports, and documentation are maintained.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor within the building services or M&E sector.
- Previous experience delivering commercial refurbishment projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services installations, including HVAC, pipework, public health, and associated systems.
- Excellent understanding of commissioning processes and project handover requirements.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to understand project costs, procurement strategies, variations, and programme impacts.
- Experience overseeing procurement, construction delivery, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and commissioning documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate subcontractors effectively.
- SSSTS or SMSTS certification preferred.
- Relevant mechanical engineering or building services qualifications desirable.
