RS Skips Ltd is an established Skip Hire & Waste Management company based in Shorne, Kent. We are looking for an experienced HGV Fitter / Mechanic to join our team and keep our fleet running safely and efficiently.

About the role

You will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of our HGV fleet, ensuring vehicles are safe, roadworthy and ready for daily operations. This is a hands-on, workshop-based role where you will work independently and take ownership of the jobs allocated to you, completing them safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

What you'll do:

  • Carry out PMIs (Preventive Maintenance Inspections) to the required standard
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure all compliance checks are completed
  • Diagnose faults including transmission diagnostics and other mechanical issues
  • Complete general servicing and repairs on HGVs, including brakes, tyres, and suspension
  • Accurately record work carried out and report any major defects or safety concerns
  • Work safely at all times, following company procedures and Health & Safety guidelines

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience as an HGV Fitter / HGV Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Technician
  • Strong knowledge of PMIs, MOT preparation, transmission diagnostics, servicing, brakes and tyres
  • Able to work independently on your own initiative, managing your own workload
  • Able to complete all jobs given to you safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
  • Reliable, hard working and a good communicator
