Qualified Bus Driver

We\’re looking for a Cat.D licence holder to operate our public bus services and school contracts on the island of Yell in Shetland.

Yell is rugged and remote, with a population of around 900 people and is linked to the Shetland Mainland by ferry (crossing time is 20 minutes). If you love dramatic scenery and wildlife, want to escape the hustle and bustle and be part of a small island community, this job may well be for you. If you love the convenience of city life, 24 hour supermarkets and buzzing nightlife, this position is not for you

You\’ll be covering school runs from Cullivoe and/or Ulsta to Mid Yell and a very quiet bus service between Ulsta and Cullivoe. As you\’ll be covering school runs, the ability to obtain an enhanced PVG (DBS) is essential.

Our services in Yell run from 0600 to 1930 Monday to Saturday with occasional private hires outside these hours.

You\’d be working a minimum of 40 hours per week Monday to Friday plus every second Saturday.

Hourly rate for this position is £14. If you cover any private hires, it\’s £15ph or £16ph after 1930 and if you fancy working a Sunday on Mainland, it\’s £18ph.

We don\’t have accommodation available for this position, however can provide a letter of support for local authority housing.
