You will learn a wide range of engineering and manufacturing skills, including electronic assembly, soldering, component-level testing, welding processes, quality assurance, and product testing.

About the Employer: RDP has been in business for 60 years and continues to be a leader in sensors and electronic measurement equipment. We work in a large number of fields including military, cryogenic and radiation. Experience of a large number of engineering backgrounds would be on offer.

What You'll Do: We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Engineering Technician Apprentice to join our specialist electronic manufacturing team. This is a unique opportunity to learn all aspects of a small but highly specialised engineering and manufacturing facility, gaining practical experience across electronics, manufacturing, testing, quality assurance, and engineering processes.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will support the manufacture, testing, and design of LVDTs and associated electronics used in demanding environments, including radiation, cryogenic, high-temperature, and subsea applications. This apprenticeship offers exposure to advanced engineering techniques and quality standards within a BSI ISO 9001-certified business.

The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training while working alongside experienced engineers and technicians on products used in some of the world's most challenging environments.

As an apprentice, you will learn and contribute to:

  • Electronic assembly and soldering techniques.
  • Testing electronic circuits and systems to component level.
  • Manufacturing processes for precision electronic and electromechanical products.
  • The manufacture, testing, and design of LVDTs (Linear Variable Differential Transformers) and associated electronics.
  • Inspection, fault finding, and quality control activities.
  • Safe working practices within an engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • Working to documented procedures and quality standards.
