QVIS Lighting and Security is an independently owned business based in Hilsea, Portsmouth, and is an industry leading provider of security and lighting products, sold through the electrical wholesale channel. QVIS is a well-established company with over 20 years’ experience with solid routes to market.
Role Hours: Monday to Friday 08:45 - 17:30
As a Junior Lighting Designer, you will be responsible for designing lighting concepts for projects which combine both functionality and appeal. The role will be based at our headquarters in Hilsea, Portsmouth.
- Lead the design and coordination of lighting projects from concept through to completion, covering both new builds and refurbishments.
- Prepare detailed drawings, schedules and plans, manually or using CAD, BIM, specialist modelling and visualisation software.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, marketing, and client services.
- Develop lighting layouts, specifications, and control strategies using industry-standard software.
- Attend client and stakeholder site visits to present design concepts, mock-ups, and alternative solutions as needed.
- Ensure all work aligns with relevant building legislation and industry guidelines.
- Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients to support project success.
- Support the lighting management team in developing promotional strategies for new and ongoing projects on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Collate specification sheets and associated documentation.
Skills & Experience - Junior Lighting Designer:
- Basic understanding of mathematical concepts required.
- Good design and technical skills as well as being highly organised.
- IT skills are essential including proficient use of MS Office.
- Knowledge of Relux desirable, but not essential as training will be provided.
- University degree desirable.
- Able to prioritise tasks and deadlines.
- Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently as well as within a team.
