Qvest's subsidiary Qspaces is building and operating a modern cloud‑based live sports production platform for a major international sports broadcaster in London. We are looking for highly capable Matchday Operations Engineers to support live production operations during Premier League matchdays and other live event windows. The role combines live broadcast operations, cloud/media platform awareness, incident coordination, workflow troubleshooting and operational escalation management. You will work alongside a distributed remote team that is strong on cloud and platform engineering but light on hands‑on broadcast experience; your job is to bring the broadcast craft into a cloud‑native operations model. This is NOT a classical NOC or helpdesk role. The engineers will act as the operational field‑presence layer between production operations, remote DevOps teams, system vendors and live event stakeholders.
Your Tasks
- Deliver operational support during live matchdays and studio production windows
- Maintain physical onsite presence during critical matchday/live production windows at the customer location in London
- Operate a rotation‑based onsite coverage model between the assigned engineers
- Perform initial fault finding, diagnosis and operational troubleshooting
- Coordinate with remote Qspaces DevOps and operations teams
- Vendor coordination and escalation support during incidents
- Monitor operational platform health and workflow status via Dataminer, and integrated observability tooling
- Support incident management during live events, including running the war‑room bridge for P1 incidents
- Run operational readiness checks before live productions (pre‑match and prebroadcast)
- Operation communication and coordination with customer teams onsite
- Identification and escalation of critical operational risks
- Contribute to and maintain runbooks, post‑incident reviews and the matchday emergency playbook
The operational environment includes a modern distributed media platform with technologies and workflows around cloud‑based live production environments, IP‑based broadcast workflows, media workflow orchestration & automation, live ingest/playout/distribution and operational observability.
Systems
- Media Workflow / Orchestration: Dataminer, qibb, Mosart, Xytech
- Cloud / Infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes / containerized environments, Hybrid cloud operations
- Broadcast / Media Systems: Live production systems, Media asset workflows, IP video contribution/distribution, Studio and live event operations
- Monitoring / Operations: Grafana, Jira / ITSM workflows, Operational alerting and observability tooling
Practical operational experience with some of the above systems is highly valuable. Deep expertise in every platform is not expected; however, candidates should be comfortable operating in complex, integrated, multi‑vendor media environments.
Your Profile
- Strongly Preferred:
- Experience in live broadcast or live sports production environments.
- Experience with IP/video‑based broadcast workflows.
- Experience with at least one of the following systems in a live operational context: VizMosart, EVS (XT/XS‑VIA, LSM‑VIA, MultiReview), Adobe Premiere with MAM integration, Mimir or another modern MAM, Saga or another NRCS, Makalu or another modern playout system
- Operational experience in cloud or hybrid media environments
- Understanding of live production operational pressure and escalation handling
- Experience working with multi‑vendor broadcast environments
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and structured during live incidents
Valuable Additional Experience
- Media workflow orchestration platforms
- Monitoring/observability platforms
- DevOps‑aware operational environments
- Cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Jira / ITSM workflows
- Remote operational coordination
We are looking for pragmatic, operationally strong engineers who can quickly understand complex situations, coordinate effectively under pressure, communicate professionally and contribute to stable live sports operations. This role is ideally suited for professionals with a background in live sports broadcasting, media operations, broadcast engineering, cloud media operations or live event technical operations.
Working Model
- Freelance engineers operating in a rotating coverage model with one leading (more senior) permanent role
- Min. one engineer physically onsite in London/Olympia during critical matchday and live production windows
- Rotation‑based weekend/event coverage between engineers
- Hybrid onsite/remote operational model
- Close collaboration with international distributed operations teams (Germany, APAC)
