We believe in change for good, because being future-ready means making lives better. This runs through every aspect of our business and culture, as we strive to give finance businesses the tools and technology they need to thrive. As a close-knit team, we’re at an exciting stage of growth where everyone’s contribution matters. This isn’t a role where you’ll be siloed into narrow responsibilities – you’ll have the opportunity to get involved across the business, shape how we work, and make a real impact on both our customers and our company.
Job Purpose
To support, build and maintain clean, robust and secure web applications using Oracle APEX and Oracle database technologies for internal products and external client projects. To assist the product and delivery teams with new product development by providing technical input, estimates, and implementing agreed solutions using PL/SQL, Oracle APEX and Oracle ORDS. To learn, research and propose improvements to existing Oracle APEX applications, database structures, build pipelines and development processes, contributing to continuous improvement of the technical stack.
Main Responsibilities
- Working with the delivery, product and development teams to maintain and support our suite of Oracle APEX applications.
- Assisting with the design and build of interactive reports, forms and other APEX components, ensuring good usability and performance.
- Writing and maintaining PL/SQL code (packages, procedures, functions, triggers) to support application logic and integrations.
- Configuring and consuming rest-enabled SQL and RESTful APIs, including integrations with third-party services.
- Supporting defect fixing, change requests and production issues by investigating problems and implementing agreed fixes under guidance from senior developers.
- Contributing to version control practices, code reviews and documentation for Oracle APEX applications and database changes.
Key Accountabilities
- Projects using Oracle APEX and Oracle database are completed to specification, to a high standard and delivered within agreed timeframes.
- Application scope, estimates and workload are discussed proactively with senior developers and project stakeholders so expectations and deadlines remain realistic and up to date.
- Technical designs, page structures and database changes are well thought out from an Oracle APEX and PL/SQL standpoint, meeting functional and non-functional requirements, while adhering to our architecture and coding standards.
- APEX applications, rest integrations and database objects are created, maintained or enhanced as needed to support internal products and client solutions.
- Support tickets, change requests and user queries related to Oracle APEX applications are handled helpfully, clearly and in a timely manner.
- APEX applications, PL/SQL packages and related repositories are kept up to date, with meaningful comments.
Requirements
- Enthusiasm and energy to work with a team to deliver high-quality Oracle APEX applications.
- Good programming practices such as use of git or other source control and helpful comments.
- Minimum of 2 years experience of Oracle PL/SQL and Oracle APEX concepts such as workspaces, applications, pages, shared components and classic/interactive reports.
- Some knowledge of REST and JSON, including calling RESTful services from Oracle APEX and exposing database objects via ORDS.
- Interest in or some knowledge of basic dev ops practices such as automated deployments, environment configuration and scripting.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new Oracle APEX features, APIs, plugins and third-party integrations.
- Personable, approachable and hungry to learn, with a positive outlook and an overall passion for excellence.
- Analytical and inquisitive, asks appropriate questions and has enthusiasm to understand the QV products full.
- Knowledge to balance architectural decisions with delivery speed whilst maintaining quality standards.
- Experience to develop quality software on time and optimise processes in fast-paced environments.
