Quotient Sciences is a leading drug development and manufacturing accelerator, helping biotech and pharma companies bring new medicines to patients faster. With over 35 years of experience and a track record of success, we provide Drug Product (CDMO) and Clinical (CRO) services across the entire development pathway, including formulation development, clinical pharmacology, clinical trials, and commercial product manufacturing.

Our proprietary and disruptive platform – "Translational Pharmaceutics" – integrates Drug Product Manufacturing and Clinical Testing to eliminate silos in the drug development process. This in turn reduces costs, improves outcomes, and significantly accelerates drug development times.

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Clinical Pharmacy Technician to take operational responsibility for the day‐to‐day management of our Clinical Dispensary. This is a critical role within our clinical unit, ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient handling of investigational and non‐investigational medicinal products (IMPs and nIMPs) in a highly regulated environment.

As the operational lead for dispensary activities, you will provide leadership to the dispensary team and work closely with Clinical Operations, Medical, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Project Management colleagues to support the successful delivery of clinical trials. This role offers the opportunity to combine hands‐on technical expertise with people leadership, quality oversight and project involvement.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the daily operation of the Clinical Dispensary, ensuring all activities are compliant with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), regulatory requirements and company procedures.
  • Manage resources, coordinate workloads and maintain a high standard of safety, accuracy and accountability across all dispensary activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing day‐to‐day dispensary operations and ensuring regulatory and business compliance.
  • Leading, coaching and developing the dispensary team through regular 1:1s, objective setting and on‐the‐job support.
  • Coordinating resourcing and working closely with clinical scheduling teams to maximise operational efficiency.
  • Controlling dispensary access in line with SOPs and security requirements.
  • Ordering, receiving, checking, storing and recording the use of IMPs and nIMPs.
  • Overseeing temperature monitoring, expiry management and stock control for all medicines.
  • Maintaining accurate and up‐to‐date dispensary documentation and study files.
  • Acting as the Responsible Person for Controlled Drugs within the clinic, ensuring full accountability from receipt to reconciliation.
  • Overseeing emergency trolley medication management and routine drug ordering.
  • Conducting post‐product transfer confirmatory QC checks.
  • Leading dispensary activities for assigned clinical projects, including attending project meetings and preparing project‐specific documentation.
  • Ensuring dose preparation equipment is validated and colleagues are trained and supported during project delivery.
  • Hosting monitoring visits, audits and client tours, and responding to findings and actions.
  • Investigating deviations and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Writing, reviewing and maintaining SOPs, work instructions and templates.
  • Proactively promoting safe working practices and maintaining high standards of record keeping.
  • Supporting clinic delivery through cross‐training and, where applicable, participating in procedures such as dosing.

Skills and experience:

  • Qualified Pharmacy Technician with at least 3 years' experience in a UK hospital or community pharmacy.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and relevant medicines legislation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Previous experience working within clinical trials or a regulated clinical environment.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience mentoring or training colleagues.
  • Experience supporting audits, inspections or monitoring visits.

Working environment:

This role operates in a fast‐paced clinical setting and involves periods of high concentration, tight deadlines and competing priorities. You will work with medicines in a controlled environment where strict adherence to safety procedures is essential. Flexibility is required, including occasional weekend working and responding to client or study needs.
