The Role

As an Analytical Scientist, you will be responsible for carrying out analytical testing activities to support formulation development, method transfer and process transfer projects.

You'll work within a GMP and Gx P environment, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with quality standards, procedures and regulatory requirements.

You will collaborate with colleagues across the laboratory, contribute to continuous improvement activities and help ensure projects are delivered to agreed timelines and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical testing to support pharmaceutical development programmes, including dissolution and particle size distribution (PSD) testing.
  • Conduct sample analysis using techniques such as HPLC, UV spectroscopy and dissolution testing.
  • Complete and review laboratory documentation accurately and in line with GMP requirements.
  • Support the training and development of new and existing team members.
  • Write, review and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and analytical methods.
  • Investigate and document laboratory incidents, quality investigations and related records as required.
  • Prepare analytical testing protocols and technical reports.
  • Ensure all activities comply with GMP, Gx P and company quality standards.
  • Manage multiple priorities effectively while meeting project and client deadlines.
  • Maintain high standards of laboratory safety and housekeeping.

Skills and Experience Required

  • HNC/HND in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
  • Experience working within a Quality Control, analytical or laboratory environment.
  • Practical laboratory experience using analytical techniques.
  • Good attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of GMP and quality requirements within a regulated environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience using HPLC, UV spectroscopy and dissolution testing.
  • Experience writing SOPs, analytical methods, protocols or reports.
  • Experience training or mentoring colleagues.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical development processes.
  • Experience working in a pharmaceutical, CRO or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Develop advanced analytical laboratory techniques and instrumentation expertise.
