We are seeking an experienced Senior Microbiology Scientist to join our team in Alnwick. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your scientific expertise in a dynamic, client-facing environment, where you will lead and support the development, validation, and application of microbiological methodologies. You will work directly with clients to ensure study requirements are clearly understood and met, playing a key role in delivering high-quality scientific outcomes. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with GxP regulations and driving technical excellence across the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan teams’ and personal workload efficiently, working directly with clients or their representatives as required. Ensure agreed timelines are met.
  • Develop, validate, and apply a range of microbiological methodologies.
  • Prepare and where appropriate, approve high quality protocols and scientific reports connected with this work.
  • Guide other team members in the development, validation, and application of microbiological methodologies and in the resolution of technical issues.
  • Ensure work complies with regulatory guidance and where appropriate, specific client requirements.
  • Work with due regard to health and safety of self and others.
  • Work flexibility across the site to meet business needs.

About You

  • BSc (Hons) (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Extensive experience in pharmaceutical microbiology.
  • Strong knowledge of the GMP regulatory environment and drug development lifecycle.
  • Experience in guiding professional or technical staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving and new challenges.
