The Role

We’re looking for a proactive and enthusiastic IT Support Trainee to join our IT team in Alnwick. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop their career in IT, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive and collaborative environment. You’ll provide supervised first-line technical support to users across the business, helping resolve IT issues while building your skills in service desk and desktop support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line support to users via phone, Teams/chat, service desk portal, and email
  • Assist in achieving agreed service levels and response targets
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the IT department
  • Log, track, and follow up on support tickets to ensure timely resolution
  • Perform routine system monitoring checks and escape issues where required
  • Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, and business application issues
  • Provide occasional, supervised out-of-hours support for critical IT incidents
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver a high standard of IT service

About You

  • Minimum GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • A Level 2/3 IT qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent practical interest in IT
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows devices and common applications
  • Customer service experience is desirable but not essential
  • Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Organized, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple queries
  • Willingness to learn and develop within an IT environment
