If you’re someone who enjoys helping others, building positive relationships, and supporting young people through challenges, a Learning Mentor role could be the perfect next step. As a Learning Mentor, you’ll work closely with students who may need extra support both inside and outside the classroom, supporting students with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs.

Responsibilities

  • Helping young people manage emotions and remain engaged in learning
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with students
  • Working alongside teachers, SEN teams, and pastoral staff
  • Providing consistency, encouragement, and emotional support throughout the day

Qualifications & Experience

No previous experience in schools? That’s absolutely fine. You don’t need to have worked in education before. What matters most is your ability to stay calm, build trust, and support students who may need additional emotional or behavioural guidance throughout the school day. We’d particularly like to hear from people who have experience supporting young people or working in people‑focused roles, including:

  • Sports coaches
  • Psychology graduates
  • Youth workers
  • Support workers
  • Individuals with care or mentoring experience
