Looking for a role where you can make a real difference day-to-day? Or already working with young people and thinking about becoming a Learning Mentor? We’re currently supporting three specialist SEN schools across North Hampshire, including Basingstoke and Aldershot. We’re looking for warm-hearted and proactive Learning Mentors to support students on both a long-term and permanent basis. No school experience? That’s absolutely fine. You don’t need to have worked as a Learning Mentor before. What matters most is your ability to understand behaviour, support emotional needs, and build trust with young people who may find school challenging. We’ll support you with free training and guidance, so you feel confident stepping into the role.

What the role involves:

  • Supporting students with additional emotional and behavioural needs (SEMH)
  • Helping young people regulate emotions and navigate challenges
  • Building consistent, trust-based relationships
  • Working closely with teachers, SEN teams, and pastoral staff
  • Being a steady, positive presence throughout the school day

Why this role matters:

This is meaningful, impactful work. You’re often the person a student turns to when things feel overwhelming — helping them reset, refocus, and feel supported. It’s also a great pathway into teaching, psychology, youth work, or pastoral roles.

Who this role would suit:

We’re particularly keen to hear from people with experience such as:

  • Sports coaches
  • Psychology graduates
  • Youth workers
  • Support workers or those with a care background

If you understand behaviour, can stay calm under pressure, and build rapport easily — you’ll likely be a great fit.

What we offer:

  • Long-term and permanent opportunities
  • Weekly pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE)
  • Free training (behaviour support, safeguarding)
  • Opportunity to gain school experience before committing
  • A supportive, people-first approach throughout

Safeguarding:

At Quokka Education, safeguarding comes first. All applicants will be vetted in line with DfE guidance, including an online search as part of the process. We’ll guide you through each step so you know what to expect.

Refer a friend:

Know someone who’d be a great fit? Refer a friend to us and we’ll pay you £100 if they secure a role.
