Our socio-economics team is made up of leading specialists in understanding how development and infrastructure shape communities and the economy. Defined by forward thinking analysis, attention to detail and honest evidence-based advice, we consistently strive for the best outcomes, building strategic and economic cases. We work closely with major public and private sector organisations, government bodies and leading planning lawyers to influence policy, structure legal agreements and provide robust evidence to government that shape and inform key decisions.

What you are going to do

  • This role supports senior colleagues through high-quality research, helping to maintain the team’s reputation at the forefront of the industry.
  • Contribute to the delivery of strategic socio-economic advice by researching, analysing and clearly presenting information in a robust and accessible way.
  • Help develop evidence to support cases for development, including undertaking economic and socio-economic data analysis to input into formal Socio-Economic Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) (or equivalent) for DCO and TCPA applications.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Support senior colleagues with high-quality research to help sustain our reputation as an industry leader.
  • Contribute to the delivery of strategic socio-economic advice through robust research and clear, well-structured presentation of findings.
  • Assist in developing evidence to support development proposals, including contributing to formal socio-economic EIA (or equivalent) deliverables for DCO and TCPA applications.
  • Undertake economic and socio-economic data analysis using appropriate statistical methods.
  • Produce clear and engaging maps, charts and graphics to communicate analysis effectively (GIS skills are desirable; training will be provided where required).

What we ask

  • A relevant degree, or equivalent professional experience, combined with a sound understanding of economic impact assessments and strong numerical skills, including confidence using statistics and spreadsheets to develop, evidence and critically assess analysis.
  • An interest and enthusiasm for delivering socio-economic impact assessments for major infrastructure projects, including NSIPs, with an understanding of how development affects communities, the economy and key stakeholders within the planning system.
  • The ability to think strategically, recognising how project-level decisions influence outcomes at a wider societal level.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused and collaborative mindset, with the confidence to challenge ideas constructively to achieve the best outcomes for our clients.
  • Excellent attention to detail, supported by clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work closely with and report to experienced senior colleagues, collaborating effectively and contributing positively within the wider team.
