We are looking for an experienced Assistant Planner to join our Planning Team. This role offers the right candidate the chance to play a key part in our ongoing growth and success. You will work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment alongside industry leaders, engaging with an exceptional range of clients on prestigious and diverse projects.
What are you going to do
This role involves working closely with experienced professionals within one of our teams, supporting senior colleagues in the management and delivery of a wide range of projects. You will take on clearly defined responsibilities, including assisting with proposals, bids and tenders, monitoring budgets and programmes, and supporting the preparation of planning applications and appeals.
You will collaborate with senior team members while developing your ability to problem-solve, working independently with appropriate oversight. Responsibilities will include drafting reports, researching and analysing information, reviewing relevant policy and legislation, preparing submissions, and supporting engagement with planning officers to help inform well‑considered and accurate advice.
The role places strong emphasis on continuous learning and professional development. You will build your technical skills through CPD, contribute to internal collaboration, and develop an understanding of project and business finance, while supporting the wider team.
Ultimately, you will support project delivery and team success by building client relationships, assisting with meetings and events, and representing the company’s values, while gradually taking on more responsibility under the guidance of senior colleagues.
Key Role Responsibilities

- Maintain technical knowledge through ongoing professional development
What we ask
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience
- Understanding of the England planning system and key factors influencing development projects
- Strong research, analytical and organisational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general IT systems
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage tasks with appropriate supervision
- Professional, proactive approach with strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Desirable: Relevant postgraduate qualification and/or working towards Chartered status
