What are you going to do
As the Financial Controller you will manage the day-to-day finance operations and ensure the business has accurate and timely financial information.

You will support effective decision-making through high-quality financial reporting, maintain strong financial controls and compliance with statutory requirements, and oversee key finance activities.

Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will also lead and develop the finance team, oversee payroll, and produce monthly management accounts.

Role Summary
Lead the month-end close process, prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports, reconcile balance sheet accounts each month and complete quarterly VAT returns, ensuring all financial records are accurate, up to date and fully supported by documentation.

Lead and develop the finance operations team, including billing, credit control and accounts payable, while building strong relationships across the business to resolve issues and improve collaboration. Support team members through coaching, performance reviews and development opportunities to help them grow and perform effectively.

Oversee the day-to-day running of accounts payable, billing and credit control, ensuring processes are well documented, controls are effective, and finance operations are continually improved through better systems and more efficient ways of working.

Support the budgeting and forecasting process by preparing cost, overhead and revenue forecasts, monitoring performance against budget, and investigating variances and unusual trends to provide clear insights and updates to the Head of Finance.

Support the ongoing development of ERPx and assist with the delivery of training across the business, maintain accurate and reliable system data, and improve financial processes and controls to increase efficiency and strengthen governance.

Manage the outsourced payroll process, including setting up payroll payments, responding to payroll queries, and preparing P11D and PSA submissions to ensure employees are paid accurately and tax reporting requirements are met.

Support VAT, PAYE and other statutory compliance requirements, ensure Companies House obligations are kept up to date, and maintain finance policies and procedures so they remain accurate, effective and compliant.

A highly organised and detail-focused individual, with strong analytical, communication and advanced Excel skills. You will be able to lead and develop a team, build effective relationships across the business, and work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders. A professional, proactive and trustworthy approach, together with a commitment to accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement, is essential.
