Quirky Digital is hiring a Technical SEO Manager to join our growing team, based within commuting distance of Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle. This is a specialist role for someone who thrives on technical problem-solving, understands how modern search works (including LLMs and AI search), and can directly influence organic performance through site architecture, crawl efficiency and technical execution. You will work closely with our Head of SEO, developers and content teams to deliver technically sound, commercially focused SEO strategies across a range of competitive and high-risk industries.
Key Responsibilities- Lead technical SEO audits across client websites, identifying issues impacting crawlability, indexation and performance.
- Own site architecture, internal linking and URL structure recommendations.
- Manage and implement technical fixes including redirects, canonicals, hreflang, schema and Core Web Vitals improvements.
- Analyse log files and crawl data to improve search engine access and efficiency.
- Optimise websites for modern search, including AI Overviews and LLM visibility.
- Work closely with developers to ensure SEO best practice is implemented correctly.
- Identify and resolve indexation issues across large or complex websites.
- Lead migrations, replatforms and domain changes.
- Monitor performance using GA4, GSC and third-party tools to identify opportunities and risks.
- Contribute to testing frameworks and experimentation across technical SEO initiatives.
- Clearly communicate technical findings and recommendations to clients and internal teams.
- Proven experience in a technical SEO-focused role, ideally within an agency.
- Strong understanding of crawling, rendering, indexation and ranking systems.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, Ahrefs, Semrush and log file analysis tools.
- Experience working with JavaScript SEO, Core Web Vitals and page performance optimisation.
- Solid understanding of structured data and schema implementation.
- Experience supporting or leading website migrations.
- Familiarity with how search is evolving, including LLMs, AI search interfaces and entity-based SEO.
- Ability to translate technical insights into clear, commercially relevant recommendations.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical delivery.
- Salary: £35,000–£45,000 depending on experience.
