Our thoroughly exciting brand-based and customer-focused client is seeking a talented Financial Controller to join the team. Through your insightful commercial and financial analysis and your careful financial control, you'll help drive the business on their journey of sustainable growth. You'll business partner with all areas of the company, really getting under the skin of the business to develop further opportunities. The right person will be able to develop the core elements of this role and grow it into an even more senior role as the business continues to push forward.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage a small finance team across all areas of bookkeeping and transactional finance - purchase and sales ledger; banking and petty cash; payroll, VAT and HMRC statutory requirements.
  • Monthly management accounts production, as well as weekly, quarterly, and year-end management reporting.
  • Create and present all financial reporting.
  • Ensure robust financial controls are in place.
  • Review and improve all financial processes, fostering a continuous improvement environment.
  • Develop and maintain budgets and forecasts.
  • Lead negotiations and relationships for all corporate funding to support growth.
  • In time, build a dashboard of analysis, based on customer insight, margins and pricing, production materials and costs - all developed through a thorough understanding of the business and its drivers.
  • Manage insurance renewals and claims.
  • Provide commercial and financial support to the Board as required.

Skills and experience

  • Qualified ACA/CIMA/ACCA accountant; late-stage part qualified with appetite to qualify, or appropriate experience.
  • Broad, all-encompassing financial management experience to include financial accounting and ideally management accounting.
  • Ideally, finance skills honed in a small to medium-sized growing business.
  • Proven finance business partnering skills.
  • Developed relationship engagement and management experience - able to communicate in 'real' terms to a range of non-finance stakeholders.
  • Hands-on attitude - able to support and lead your team in all areas of finance.
  • Inspirational - both to your team and the wider business. Help them understand the importance of finance in a sound commercial decision-making process.
  • Analytical - able to build a clear and concise dashboard of financial and commercial insight.
