A fantastic opportunity has arisen with a highly regarded mid-sized accountancy practice that works with a broad portfolio of owner-managed businesses, large corporate groups, and UK subsidiaries across a range of sectors. The firm is looking to hire either a newly qualified ACA/ACCA accountant or someone close to completing their exams, with strong audit experience gained in practice and the confidence to lead audits from planning through to completion.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain excellent client exposure while taking real ownership of audit assignments, working closely with experienced managers and partners. You'll work with clients ranging from growing SMEs to businesses with turnovers approaching Β£100m, across sectors including property, construction, technology, manufacturing, retail, and life sciences. The role also offers hybrid working, providing flexibility to balance office collaboration with working from home, alongside a supportive team environment and excellent opportunities for career progression.

Key responsibilities:

  • Desk split 80% audit and 20% accounts
  • Leading audits from planning through to completion
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts
  • Managing on-site audit fieldwork and acting as the main client contact during assignments
  • Delegating work to juniors and reviewing their work where appropriate
  • Carrying out audit testing, analytical reviews, and file completion
  • Supporting managers and partners with larger and more complex assignments
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong audit experience within a UK accountancy practice
  • ACA or ACCA qualified, or close to finalising exams
  • Experience leading audits and managing client relationships
  • Good knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS 102
  • Experience using software such as CCH, Xero, QuickBooks or similar
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
