As a Warehouse Team Leader you will play a vital hands-on role in ensuring the smooth, accurate and efficient operation across ambient, chilled, and fresh produce areas. Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will support the daily workflow by leading picking teams, training new starters, maintaining high accuracy standards, and ensuring all stock is handled correctly and safely.

Shift: 1pm - 10pm, 5 days out of 7 (Including Weekend Work)

Salary: £30,139 per annum

You will be actively involved in picking while also overseeing quality checks, stock locations, bulk labelling and trolley presentation. You will contribute to a high-performing, well-organised warehouse that consistently meets customer expectations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operational Picking and Workflow Support
    • Oversee the ambient, chilled and fresh produce picking teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
    • Active involvement in picking to support the team and maintain productivity.
    • Check trolleys to ensure products are sensibly placed, stable, and organised within trays.
    • Check bulk pallets to ensure all labelling is correct and compliant.
    • Report any incorrect stock locations to managers to support accurate stock control.
  • Training, Coaching & Quality Standards
    • Train new employees in correct picking techniques, warehouse processes and product handling.
    • Provide constructive feedback on errors to team members promptly and deliver refresher training where required.
    • Promote accuracy, speed and safe working practices across all picking areas.
    • Support the development of a positive and collaborative team culture.
    • Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, teamwork and strong work ethic.
    • Support the wider warehouse team by communicating priorities, updates and best practice.
    • Assist supervisors in maintaining a smooth workflow and ensuring all pickers meet nightly targets.
    • Support positive working relationships and contribute to a culture of teamwork, communication and respect.
  • Compliance, Stock Integrity & Safety
    • Ensure all handling of stock follows company standards and Health & Safety requirements.
    • Support stock rotation, waste reduction and general warehouse organisation.
    • Maintain adherence to site rules, equipment use and safe systems of work.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a warehouse environment, ideally within picking or goods out.
  • Previous experience supporting or leading small teams is beneficial.
  • Comfortable training others and giving constructive feedback.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to guide, support and motivate others.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Positive, hands-on approach and willingness to get involved in all tasks.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and remain calm under pressure.
  • Reliable, adaptable and committed to delivering a high standard of work.
  • Able to work night shifts and meet the physical demands of a warehouse role.
