The Technical Executive will be responsible for providing administrative, coordination and documentation support to the Tooling engineering function. Showing initiative and use of skills, you will act as a backbone of tooling projects, enabling the Tool Engineers to focus on technical decision-making, supplier performance and successful new product development.

You will provide advice to junior managers relating to documentation control, exploration of exploded drawings, creation of bill of materials (BOM’s) and specification change order (SCO). The Technical Executive will be instrumental with support for overseas toolmakers and will provide technical specialist information and results to management relating to expertise.

Requirements:

  • A Level or relevant knowledge through work experience (NVQ Level 3).
  • Proven experience in an administrative, project support or coordinator role within engineering manufacturing or supply chain environments.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering administration.
  • Experience with project tracking tools or shared document control systems.
  • Experienced and confident with working with suppliers across different cultures and time zones.
  • Knowledge of standard production and manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience of completing projects within a diverse manufacturing environment.
  • Commercial, customer relationship and development experience.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to follow technical guidance within engineering administration.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with drive to see projects through from inception to production.
  • Good communication skills, ability to communicate verbally, written and via presentation according to the audience.
  • Good influencing skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

Job preview:

Be the point of contact for Tooling project administration, maintain overall tooling project trackers for NPI programmes that include Tool build milestones, trial dates and shipment, receipt and handover status. Maintain master resource plan. Carry out the effective exploration of exploded drawings. Schedule meetings across multiple time zones (e.g. Far East suppliers) and liaise with suppliers to obtain progress updates, design review submissions and design for manufacture (DFM), trial data and reports, documentation and certificates. Distribute meeting minutes, actions and agreed documentation. Prepare complete tooling documentation packs for SOP handover and audits. Maintain and update the Tooling Standards manual at the direction of the Tooling Manager.
