- We are posting this vacancy on behalf of our Sister Company - Sea Farms
Must have experience within a QA or specification role
To manage & control the technical activities for current raw materials and any new proteins brought into the business.
- Technical QA function
- Check containers upon arrival including temperature, loading order, condition of the load and that the contents match the loading tally and COA.
- Sample protein on intake based on agreed risk-based frequency, results to be logged.
- Out of specification results to raised with suppliers and closed out effectively.
- Routine spot checks to ensure product is palletised correctly and all traceability information is recorded correctly.
- Review micro results from scheduled sampling of product against agreed specification.
- Routine spot checks of loads prior to shipping to customer to ensure intact and correct.
- Daily review of temperature logger alerts, take corrective action as required. Review temperature data upon receipt
- Collect samples required by Sea Farms.
- To perform weekly/monthly calibration checks of equipment
- Assist Technical Admin investigate cause of customer complaints/non-conformances and liaise with Technical manager/Procurement as appropriate.
- Send product samples to external lab for micro and/or chemical testing.
- Complete glaze checks for blue earth frozen bagging
- Maintain high level of hygiene in the QC room and ensure stocked at all times
- Verify that product was originally supplied by Sea Farms.
- Ensure goods are undamaged and residual shelf-life is acceptable.
- Liaise with Technical Manager and procurement as to the disposal of unfit goods.
- Liaise with Procurement so that appropriate credits may be raised to customers for returned products.
Control of non-conforming goods
- Liaise with cold store to ensure damaged stock, stock requiring placing on hold is moved to quarantine account.
Manage hold log and reconciliation of held stock.
Release stock in liaison with technical and procurement as requested.
- Work with procurement to ring fence stock required for special use.
Product Development
- To take an active part when required in the development of new Sea Farms’ products or carry out amendments to existing products.
- Attendance at first production trial as necessary.
- Create new specifications and QAS standards as required as part of NPD with the aid of technical manager.
- Maintain and update specifications as required
- Managing samples and sample log
- Food waste
- Manage and log food waste from sampling.
- Provide figures for Wrap submissions.
Requirements
- Accountabilities: -
- Providing timely management information as and when required.
- Responsible for maintaining records on agreed system files.
- Responsible for reconciliation of inventory held at HSH in terms of on hold stock, write offs, damages and disposals in conjunction with logistics and supply chain planner
- QC checks on incoming goods as per sampling and surveillance testing schedules
- Management of external laboratories
Experience
- Able to meet requirements for CL2
- Ability to adapt to an ever-changing business environment.
- A passion for seafood desirable as role involves daily sampling of seafood
- Must be able to work independently
- Role requires working both in the office and the cold store, car essential
