Position Title: Press Operative

Location: Paneltex Ltd, Somerden Road, Hull, HU9 5PE

Reporting to: Manager/Supervisor/Team Leader

Hours of work: 40 hours per week – Monday to Thursday 06:00 to 15:00 and Friday 06:00 to 12:00

Salary: From £13.00 per hour

Job Overview

The scope of the role is to lay laminate sheet onto a cleaned vacuum press table, applying adhesive with a glue machine, building up panel components of plywood, foam, metal inserts, conduits etc. The panel must be laid up within the glue open times so ability to work under pressure, safely and with attention to detail is essential. After pressing, the panels need to be moved using cranes or manual lifting onto barrows to be taken to the trim shop before repeating the process.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • QA inspection of goods presented using visual inspection and tape measure to confirm dimensions.
  • Carry out the necessary work to products according to engineering drawing instructions, including the fitting of various components.
  • After completion, the products are labelled and kitted up.
  • Be familiar with the company’s Health and Safety Policies and in particular with your responsibilities.
  • Comply with all relevant internal rules, policies and procedures, included in the company handbook.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Previous experience and proficiency with handheld power tools.
  • Be able to use electric saws after training.
  • Ability to read and understand detailed engineering drawings.
  • Safe use of lifting with crane after training.
  • Safely use Hydro glue dispense machine after training.
  • Effective communication includes speaking, writing, active listening and taking instructions.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload in order to meet deadlines.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety.
  • Excellent work ethic and team player.
  • Excellent timekeeping and attendance.
  • Flexible approach to working additional hours when required.
