Access Platform Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Access Platform Engineer to join our growing team. This role is primarily focused on major repairs, diagnostics, refurbishment and fault finding on vehicle-mounted access platforms and associated equipment.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring our fleet is maintained to the highest possible standards, supporting operational uptime and delivering excellent service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out major repairs, refurbishment work and complex fault finding on vehicle-mounted access platforms.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical and mechanical faults efficiently and safely.
  • Complete maintenance and repair work in line with manufacturer guidelines and company standards.
  • Communicate effectively with the Depot Manager regarding defects, unsafe equipment or additional repair requirements.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge to identify and resolve issues quickly.
  • Accurately complete job records using the company handheld tablet system, including labour allocation and parts usage.
  • Ensure all vehicle statuses are updated correctly and in real time.
  • Support workshop efficiency through effective stock control and reporting of parts usage.
  • Identify and report warranty repairs or potential customer recharge work to the Service Department.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures outlined within the Employee Handbook.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience repairing and maintaining mobile or vehicle-mounted access platforms.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across hydraulics, auto electrics and mechanical systems.
  • IPAF Competent Assessed Person (CAP) qualification preferred.
  • Relevant engineering or maintenance qualifications with experience gained within the plant hire, powered access or rental sector.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • A proactive, reliable and safety-focused approach to work.
