Description
- Act as a specialist ‘day to day’ point of contact and lead the end-to-end packaging process, from concept to production, ensuring designs meet brand, cost, and sustainability goals.
- Collaborate with product development, marketing, operations and supply chain teams to create packaging that aligns with product requirements and brand identity.
- Manage relationships with packaging suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
- Oversee testing and validation of packaging for durability, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Implement innovative materials and processes to improve sustainability and reduce costs.
- Monitor market trends and competitor packaging to keep our designs fresh and competitive.
- Engage with internal specialists to support continuous improvement through innovation, commercialisation and business needs.
- Ensure attention to detail, rectification of process errors and cost control are considerations on all aspects of direct category management activities and tasks.
Requirements
- Degree level in technical subject or relevant knowledge through work experience.
- Desirable; Superuser status in functions of MRP / ERP system (Oracle or other).
- Desirable; Chartered Institute of Purchasing (CIPS) accreditation level 5.
- Proven track record in packaging ownership within a manufacturing or product development environment.
- Proven experience in packaging design, engineering, or management, ideally in fast moving consumer good (FMCG), consumer goods, or relevant similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and sustainability best practices.
- Familiarity with packaging design software (e.g., ArtiosCAD, Adobe Illustrator) is a plus
- Demonstrable effective judgement and decision-making experience, with proven success in influencing and negotiation with internal stakeholders.
- Awareness of compliance legislation requirements related to packaging (e.g. Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws)
