A key player within the technical team, providing support to the Technical Manager. Responsible for ensuring all internal and external requirements are covered as part of the site’s Quality Management system, and are in line with product safety, legality, integrity, authenticity, quality standards, customer Code of Practice and Industry standards.

The Role

  • Day to day management of the Production Quality Checker team
  • Support the Technical Manager in ensuring the site consistently complies with site standards, customer technical standards, BRC, ISO 9001, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain and continually review site’s Quality Management systems
  • Play a key role in HACCP implementation
  • Champion site’s transition from QC to QA
  • Identify gaps in knowledge and organise training on technical procedures for key operational staff
  • Take part in routine organoleptic product assessment and NPD projects
  • Provide practical support to promote a Quality Assurance/Food Safety Culture
  • Manage investigation of quality related matters, complaints, and operational non-conformances, ensuring all issues are dealt with and closed out promptly
  • Assist with customer and regulatory audits
  • Deputise in the absence of the Technical Manager

The Person

  • Proven background in quality/technical within a food manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of Quality and Food Safety requirements and standards in the food industry (ISO, BRC standards, customer standards, regulatory requirements, etc)
  • Knowledge of HACCP and factory QMS gained through similar role in the food industry
  • BSc Food Science or a related degree
  • HACCP level 3
