Location: Paneltex Ltd, Somerden Road, Hull, HU9 5PE

Hours of work: 40 hours per week - Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 17:00 and Friday 08:00 to 14:00

Salary: From £13.00 per hour

Job Overview

Working in a team environment you will work on a range of products; you will need to read and understand lay‑up drawings and use your finishing and fairing skills to complete projects from release from the mould to a high glossed finished product. Perform QA inspection of goods presented using visual inspection and tape measure to confirm dimensions. Be able to work with a variety of air tools, diamond cutters and grinders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Trim excess GRP material from moulded parts using hand tools and power tools (e.g., grinders, sanders, trimmers).
  • Smooth and finish surfaces to prepare parts for assembly or coating.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, moulding specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Inspect finished products for defects and ensuring they meet quality standards.
  • Identify defects in GRP parts and make necessary repairs or report issues to supervisors.
  • Ability to work as part of a team that is working toward continuous improvements.
  • Be familiar with the company’s Health and Safety Policies and in particular with your responsibilities.
  • Comply with all relevant internal rules, policies and procedures, included in the company handbook.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Adhere to standards of hygiene and safety established by respective authorities.
  • Ability to follow Safe System of work and company policies when using chemicals.
  • Previous experience and proficiency in the use of handheld power tools, such as air tools, diamond cutters and grinders.
  • Experience working with GRP, composites, or similar materials is preferred.
  • To be able to understand metric tape measures confidently.
  • Ability to read and understand detailed engineering drawings (beneficial).
  • Previous experience and use of robotics (beneficial).
  • Setting up required tooling.
  • Wear relevant and necessary protective gear, such as protective goggles or other eye protection, air‑fed / respiratory equipment, overalls, safety gloves.
  • Use hand tools or power tools.
  • Effective communication includes speaking, writing, active listening and taking instructions.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload in order to meet deadlines.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety.
  • Excellent work ethic and team player.
  • Excellent timekeeping and attendance.
  • Flexible approach to working additional hours when required.
