Every great warehouse has one thing in common - a GM who makes the impossible look easy. Someone who can walk the floor, read the room, and clear a blocker before it becomes a problem. If that's you, keep reading.

About ATL

ATL is a trusted partner in logistics, specialising in streamlining supply chains. We optimise warehousing and deliver seamless transportation for businesses across industries - built on excellence, innovative technology and a genuinely personal service.

The Role

We're looking for a General Manager to take full ownership of warehouse operations at our Foston site. This is a role for a true people-person - someone who leads from the front, builds strong teams, and has the commercial and operational nous to keep a complex site running efficiently, safely and profitably. You have real autonomy to shape how the site runs: optimising workflows, managing budgets, driving continuous improvement, and being the person everyone - from the warehouse floor to the boardroom - knows they can rely on when something needs sorting.

Experience managing tyre contracts would be a real advantage, and any exposure to FMCG environments is a bonus - but what matters most is your leadership, your ability to remove obstacles for your team, and your track record running a warehouse operation that delivers.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and drive business strategies that support growth and operational excellence
  • Own the day-to-day running of the site - efficiency, productivity and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure MHE is fully operational and compliant with LOLER inspections
  • Manage budgets, financial planning and resource allocation, keeping an eye on revenue, cost and profitability
  • Hire, coach and develop a high-performing team, and lead from the front on investigations and discipline where needed
  • Lead audits across ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and BRC, and ensure staff training is up to date via the LMS
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and stakeholders - and be the calm head when issues need resolving fast
  • Manage year-end stock takes and get to the bottom of inventory differences
  • Work closely with logistics, operations and finance to keep contracts running smoothly and targets aligned

What you'll bring:

  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role such as Warehouse Manager, Operations Manager or Distribution Centre Manager
  • A genuine people-person with the ability to motivate, inspire and get the best out of a team
  • A natural blocker-clearer - someone who spots problems early and sorts them before they escape
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with confidence managing budgets and P&L
  • Proficiency with inventory/warehouse systems and a solid grasp of modern warehousing practices, layout planning and space optimisation
  • A bachelor's degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management (or equivalent experience)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • High level of honesty and integrity

What's in it for you:

  • Free parking
  • Health and wellbeing package
  • Life assurance
  • 30 days holiday
  • Company sick pay
  • Refer a friend - £500 bonus scheme
  • Full uniform provided
