About the role

  • Based in Doncaster Full Time

Ropsley Group is looking for an experienced Blue-Collar Recruiter to manage and develop recruitment activities across its group of engineering businesses.

You will be responsible for attracting, selecting and deploying suitably qualified blue-collar and site-based personnel to meet operational requirements.

This will involve managing the full recruitment process, building strong talent pipelines and working closely with operational managers and HR to support workforce planning and mobilisation.

The successful candidate will have previous experience running a blue-collar recruitment desk and will be confident managing multiple vacancies and high-volume recruitment campaigns in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process for blue-collar, skilled-trade and site-based personnel.
  • Source candidates through job boards, social media, advertising platforms, referrals and existing talent pools.
  • Conduct screening interviews and assess candidates’ experience, qualifications and suitability.
  • Coordinate interviews, trade tests and other selection activities.
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines across critical trades and hard-to-fill roles.
  • Work with operational managers and project teams to understand current and upcoming labour requirements.
  • Attend resource-planning meetings and provide updates on recruitment activity and vacancy progress.
  • Support workforce mobilisation for new projects, shutdowns and contract awards.
  • Maintain regular communication with candidates throughout the recruitment and onboarding process.
  • Verify right-to-work documentation, qualifications, competency cards, references and other required compliance documents.
  • Work closely with HR to coordinate contracts, new-starter documentation, onboarding, inductions and employee movements.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment records, candidate databases and recruitment trackers.
  • Produce recruitment reports and monitor KPIs such as vacancy levels, time-to-fill, candidate quality and retention.
  • Develop relationships with training providers, colleges, industry contacts and labour suppliers.
  • Attend recruitment events, job fairs and industry networking opportunities where required.
  • Support continuous improvement across recruitment, onboarding and employee retention.

Essential experience and skills

  • Previous experience managing or running a blue-collar recruitment desk.
  • Experience recruiting skilled trades, labour, engineering, construction, manufacturing, industrial or site-based personnel.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple vacancies and high-volume recruitment campaigns.
  • Experience sourcing candidates through a range of recruitment methods.
  • Strong knowledge of recruitment and selection processes.
  • Confident candidate-screening, interviewing and assessment skills.
  • Good understanding of competency cards, trade qualifications, right-to-work checks and workforce compliance requirements.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Recruitment experience within engineering, construction, infrastructure, utilities, rail or industrial environments.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems and recruitment databases.
  • Knowledge of workforce planning and project mobilisation.
  • Understanding of employment legislation relating to recruitment.
