40 Hours per week working Monday to Friday in Colchester.

About the role:

An exciting opportunity has become available at NRG Riverside within our Colchester depot and we are looking for a budding Apprentice HGV Technician to join the team and help us on our journey to growth. In this role, alongside your course, you will learn the technical aspects of motor vehicle mechanics.

Established in 1996, we support customers to rationalise and decarbonise fleets, reduce costs and minimise Vehicle Off Road (VOR) time.   • Ability to maintain a positive customer experience through good customer service when required
  • Work experience from within a garage/workshop/vehicle depot is advantageous

What you’ll be doing:

  • As the Apprentice HGV Technician you will attend College and other training courses to learn the technical aspects of HGVs.
  • Work alongside competent colleagues/HGV Technicians to learn the practical aspects of HGV mechanics.
  • Working within the workshop environment, maintaining a commercial fleet of HGVs to DVSA standards, whilst observing Company and manufacturers policies.
  • Keep customer downtime to an absolute minimum by ensuring each job is efficiently and effectively managed and where possible achieve standard working times.
  • Maintain external client vehicles & trailers to the highest of standards and manufacturers guidelines and ensure customer expectations are delivered and exceeded.
  • Ensure all documentation is maintained accurately and up to date by using designated paperwork and IT systems.
  • Ensure all equipment and tools are maintained & used in a safe working condition.
  • Liaise with the Supervisor and Service Centre Manager where necessary.
  • Ensure all environmental and C.O.S.H.H Health & Safety requirements are being observed in compliance with the H & S at work regulations act.
  • Liaise with the Service Centre Manager and H & S officer where necessary.
  • Ensure that when dealing with the customer directly that you talk positively about the services being provided and that the customer receives a good experience.
