The role…

We are searching for bright and motivated senior technicians to join our team at the Adelphi Theatre for The Lives of Others.

  • What you’ll be doing…
  • Working on all shows, previews and technical rehearsals of The Lives of Others.
  • As part of the Senior Production Technical team, you will be preparing the show each day and helping to conduct safety checks.
  • Working closely with the visiting Company and its Stage Management to ensure the smooth and safe operation of each show.
  • Working as part of a team to maintain a professional work environment, where performers, technicians and audience members are safe.
  • Problem solving technical issues relating to the production.
  • Assisting the Head of Department, their Deputy & Senior Technician in the smooth operation of day to day activities within the theatre including resident productions as well as concerts and events.

Ordinary duties may include (but are not limited to)

  • Working at height as required.
  • Use of access equipment.
  • Wearing black clothing, including full face covering (if required)
  • Wearing protective clothing e. g. steel toe cap boots
  • Technical rehearsals
  • Dress rehearsals
  • Maintenance shifts as required
  • Pre-setting ready for the show.
  • Following a ‘plot’. This could be a stage electrician, follow-spot, or board operator.
  • Operation of a follow spot, this may include manual and automated systems

• Operation of all lighting equipment including but not limited to

  • Smoke machines include low, haze, fog, dry ice and more.
  • C02 gas handling and replacement.
  • Lasers
  • Generic fixtures
  • Battery powered wireless devices
  • Installation and maintenance of costume electrics
  • Paging cables for trucks and set pieces. These may be automated or manual.
  • Assist with rig checks for the show when required.
  • Conducting maintenance on the lighting, video and special effects of the show.
  • Ad hoc project work as directed by the Head of Department.
  • What we need…

  • Logical and methodical, with the ability to follow instruction precisely.
  • Adaptable, with the ability to use initiative in identifying problems and working with the team to find solutions.
  • Ability to work in low light and at height.
  • Technical theatre experience and an understanding of theatre health and safety.
  • Happy to work evenings and weekends.
  • Happy to undertake First Aid at Work Training.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to follow and give clear instruction
  • Ability to follow and create a cue sheet independently
  • Ability to work with others both under instruction and when giving instruction.
  • Advantageous
  • Experience of undertaking stage electrician plots on large scale productions.
  • Experience directing a small team in technical matters.
  • Theatre Electrician wiring skill, inc. basic electrical knowledge.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: £18.01/ hour, plus £90.05/ week discretionary production betterment payment.

  • Hours of Work: 40 Hours over 6 days
