The predicted salary is between 40000 - 50000 £ per year.

To support the delivery of the business’s Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) strategy by ensuring safe, compliant, and continuously improving operations across production and operational sites. The role provides expert guidance, drives behavioural safety, and embeds environmental and safety best practice within a production and operations environment running multiple projects, programmes and lines.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of the HSE environmental and safety strategy across designated business areas
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and production teams on HSE best practice
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations, ensuring timely corrective and preventative actions
  • Promote a proactive, behavioural safety culture across all teams
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, ISO standards (e.g. ISO14001, ISO45001), and internal procedures
  • Analyse HSE performance data, identify trends, and support improvement plans
  • Produce regular reports (e.g. MBR/CSR) for senior leadership
  • Deliver training, inductions, and updates on legislation and company policies
  • Support development of risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections and ensure follow‑up actions are completed
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. OMCI programme) and embed structured improvement methodologies
  • Participate in internal forums (e.g. SEAG/MSAG meetings) to drive HSE engagement and performance

Previous Experience

  • Experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental role
  • Background in a manufacturing, engineering, or production environment (highly desirable)
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Exposure to continuous improvement or behavioural safety programmes
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence operational teams

Technical Skills / Education

Essential

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Strong understanding of HSE legislation and compliance requirements
  • Ability to analyse and interpret performance data
  • Confident communication and training delivery skills

Desirable

  • IEMA Foundation / Certificate in Environmental Management
  • NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate
  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO45001 management systems
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. structured improvement frameworks like OMCI)
