Ledwood are looking to recruit a Material Controller to join our team at Point of Ayr, North Wales

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the successful delivery of Eni's Liverpool Bay Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Transport & Storage Project, a key component of the HyNet North West decarbonisation programme. As part of this major infrastructure project, the Material Controller will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management, control, and availability of materials to support construction activities, helping to maintain project schedules, optimise resources, and contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of this landmark low-carbon energy development.

Your Role will be :

The Material Controller is responsible for ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, control, and distribution of materials on site in line with project requirements. The role supports construction activities by maintaining accurate inventory, ensuring compliance with UK regulations and project specifications, and enabling timely availability of materials to avoid delays and cost overruns.

Your new position will involve :

  • Verify all incoming materials against delivery notes, purchase orders, and specifications
  • Inspect materials for correct quantity, quality, and compliance upon delivery
  • Coordinate with QA/QC personnel for formal inspections where required
  • Identify, report, and quarantine damaged or non-compliant materials in line with procedures
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records using manual logs or digital systems
  • Monitor and control minimum and maximum stock levels to ensure material availability
  • Conduct regular stock checks, cycle counts, and periodic audits
  • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies promptly
  • Ensure materials are stored in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and project requirements
  • Implement appropriate storage solutions, including weather protection and material segregation
  • Apply correct handling and preservation techniques to prevent damage, deterioration, or contamination
  • Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations and site safety procedures
  • Issue materials to site teams based on authorised material requisitions
  • Maintain accurate records of material allocation and usage across work areas
  • Track and monitor high-value, critical, or long-lead materials
  • Support site teams in ensuring efficient material utilisation
  • Maintain comprehensive material registers, logs, and tracking systems
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly material status reports
  • Ensure full traceability of materials from receipt through to installation/use
  • Maintain proper filing of delivery notes, inspection records, and issue documentation
  • Ensure all materials meet project specifications, British Standards (BS), and UK regulatory requirements
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate and auditable records
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements
  • Environmental and sustainability policies
  • Applicable ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001)
  • Liaise effectively with key stakeholders, including:
  • Site Managers
  • Procurement Teams
  • Suppliers and Subcontractors
  • Attend site coordination and logistics meetings as required
  • Proactively identify and resolve material-related issues to avoid project delays.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within the Oil/Gas/Nuclear Industry in an on-site construction environment within a similar role.
  • Physically capability to manually handle materials and goods for packaging/ unpacking distribution
  • Valid CCNSG Safety Passport
  • Valid Safety Critical Medical

Project Specifics

The position will be based onsite, starting ASAP for approx. 18-24 months. This role will report into the Construction Lead / Project Manager and sits within the Procurement Department overseen by the Company Procurement Manager.

Working Hours :

10.5 Hours Monday to Thursday, 7 hours Friday and 6 Hours Saturday (Working hours may change to suit the needs of the project).

Rate of Pay:

Β£25.87 with Β£2.37 bonus (PAYE ONLY) overtime rates available after 38 hours weekday.

Allowances:

Accommodation Allowance is payable per night worked for any candidates that live over 40 miles from site. Travel Time and Rail Fare payment is also payable once per month during the designated site long weekend. (This allowance is only available on a PAYE basis)

Safety Critical Medical:

All positions will be required to provide a valid Safety Critical medical at the site induction.
