We are looking for an enthusiastic Plant Engineer to join our Larkfield Leisure Centre team on a full‑time basis. Hours worked will predominantly be Monday to Friday, starting at 6 am, with occasional weekend or evening work.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the effective management, economic operation and maintenance of all plant and equipment at the Centre.
  • Respond appropriately to all reactive maintenance issues in accordance with the agreed priority rating system and focus on service delivery to customers.
  • Maintain the computerised maintenance management system (FIIX), record routine maintenance, and oversee the planned preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Operate and maintain pool plant to guarantee suitable water quality for bathers during operating hours.
  • Conduct statutory checks and monitoring for Legionella, take appropriate action when readings are out of parameter, and keep complete records.
  • Liaise with the Client’s Property Services Department on plant‑related issues.
  • Respond to requests for emergency technical support, which may require attendance outside of working hours.
  • Monitor and liaise with external contractors in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Act as an integrated senior member of the Centre Management Team.
  • Provide written reports on specific maintenance issues and proposed actions as requested.
  • Advise on potential service improvements, health and safety issues, and environmental matters.
  • Ensure all plant environments are maintained in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
  • Attend meetings and training as directed by the Centre Manager.
  • Carry out any additional duties within the broad spirit, scope, level and purpose of the role.
  • Ensure reasonable care is taken for the health, safety and welfare of all persons, complying with Trust policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Electrical Competency Certificate.
  • Intermediate Health and Safety qualification.
  • Pool Plant Operators Certificate (preferred but training will be provided).
  • PASMA Use of Towers.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Previous experience operating and maintaining commercial plant and machinery.
  • Experience undertaking maintenance tasks.
  • Experience handling chemicals and working with dosing systems.
  • Experience managing contractors.
  • Experience with a Planned Preventative Maintenance programme.
  • Experience working in a leisure/pool customer‑focused environment.

  • Clean driving licence, own transport and appropriate vehicle insurance cover to travel to and between sites.
  • Interest in the leisure industry.
