We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our Larkfield Leisure Centre team on a full-time basis. Hours will be on a rota basis and will include weekdays and weekends, day shifts and evenings. As a Recreation Assistant, you are responsible for supervising and ensuring the safety of our swimmers and delivering an excellent customer experience. This will include inspecting facilities for cleanliness, completing general pool cleaning and maintenance duties at regular points throughout your shift. You will also be required to ensure swimmers follow safe swimming practice, enforce and adhere to pool rules and regulations. Candidates should ideally hold a current NPLQ or have the ability to pass the qualification. Training for this can be provided for the right candidate. You will be customer-focused and able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of users. You may also be required to provide coaching and teaching services to customers.
Responsibilities:
- To assist in the provision, promotion and development of services provided at the Centre.
- Facilitate and supervise the operational activities of the Centre, ensuring the safety of users at all times, including lifeguarding duties.
- Ensure the safe and proper use of the Centre's facilities and equipment by users, acting on and reporting accidents or damage as required by the Centre's procedures.
- Efficiently prepare wet and dry sports facilities, ensuring that equipment is safely stored and facilities remain clean and free from hazard.
- Provide coaching and teaching services to Centre users to appropriate levels as required by the Centre program.
- Assist in the upkeep and security of the Centre and immediate surroundings, as directed by the Duty Manager, making certain that standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained.
- Ensure that sports equipment is maintained in good order and safe condition and that any defects are properly reported.
- Assist the Duty Manager with the collection and reconciliation of monies in accordance with the Trust’s financial procedures.
- Assist in the organisation of and participate in the Centre's Special Events programme.
- Provide First Aid assistance as necessary to promote recovery and to fully report any such incidents.
- Demonstrate awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behavioural, physical, social and welfare needs.
- To carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope, levels and purpose of this job description.

- Previous experience of working in leisure/customer service environment.
- Ability to cope with the demands rigging and de-rigging sports and meeting room rigs.
- Confident and outgoing.

- Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn.
- Sports Coaching awards or Community Sports Leaders award.
- Experience of coaching, particularly with juniors.
Skills:
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
