Position Title: Auto Electrical Operative - Various Departments

Reporting to: Manager/Supervisor/Team Leader

Hours of work: 40 hours per week - Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 17:00 and Friday 08:00 to 14:00

Salary: From £13.00 per hour

Job Overview: To install various electrical components into vehicle cabs, box bodies and cold stores, including reversing, CCTV, data logging, tail lift and tracking systems. Working from engineering packs including A3 schematic drawings and functionality lists. Integration of the vehicle body components to the cabs wiring system, which will comprise of lights, central locking and others. Testing and commissioning finished vehicles.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Running cables and securing with the correct method which will involve removing and replacing various parts of the dashboard and carpets.
  • Connecting vehicle lights and securing as needed and ensuring it is done to the appropriate standard.
  • Reading and interpreting design drawings.
  • Using a variety of hand‑held power tools.
  • Refitting parts to required QA standards.
  • Maintain legible and accurate paperwork in line with QA standards.
  • Clean and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
  • Be familiar with the company’s Health and Safety Policies and in particular with your responsibilities.
  • Comply with all relevant internal rules, policies and procedures, included in the company handbook.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Have an understanding of electrics and electrical diagrams.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrics and systems is advantageous but training provided.
  • Effective communication includes speaking, writing, active listening and taking instructions.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload in order to meet deadlines.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety.
  • Excellent work ethic and team player.
  • Excellent timekeeping and attendance.
  • Flexible approach to working additional hours when required.
