We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Area Engineering Manager with a background in Fire & Security systems to lead and develop a team of field engineers across a defined geographic region. This is a key leadership role within the business, responsible for ensuring excellent service delivery, strong technical performance, and high operational standards across all engineering activity. You will act as the primary field-based leader, supporting engineers day-to-day while driving performance across revenue, efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer or supervisor ready to step into a wider operational leadership role, or an existing manager looking for a fresh challenge in a fast-paced, growing organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, support, and develop a team of field engineers across the region
  • Carry out regular 1-2-1s, performance reviews, and ongoing coaching
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and technical training of new engineers
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship in the field
  • Manage engineer availability and support on-call rota planning

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily engineering operations and workload allocation
  • Ensure all jobs are completed within SLA and service expectations
  • Manage escalations, urgent callouts, and complex technical issues
  • Attend customer sites where required to support engineers or resolve issues
  • Ensure accurate and timely job updates within internal systems (CASH)

Performance & Productivity Management:

  • Drive and improve area performance across key operational metrics:
  • Engineer productivity and revenue delivery
  • First time fix rates and technical quality of repairs
  • Effective utilisation and scheduling of engineers
  • Reduction of open calls, backlog, and overdue work
  • Identify underperformance and implement improvement plans

Quality, Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure all engineering work meets industry and company standards
  • Conduct audits, site checks, and toolbox talks
  • Support accident investigations and ensure proper reporting procedures
  • Ensure RAMS, safe systems of work, and compliance procedures are followed
  • Support Regional Contracts Manager with key client relationships
  • Attend client and operational meetings when required
  • Proactively resolve service issues before escalation
  • Maintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholders

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong technical background in Fire & Security engineering
  • Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring engineering teams
  • Solid understanding of industry standards, compliance, and best practices
  • Experience working in a fast-paced service or field-based environment
