Key Accountabilities:
- Lead, develop, coach and motivate the Quality Team and Production Management function to achieve high performance and accountability.
- Build a culture of ownership, continuous improvement and customer focus throughout the operation.
- Ensure quality, compliance and Product Management functions are appropriately structured and resourced to meet business requirements.
- Develop talent pipelines, succession plans and training programmes to support future business needs.
- Support managers through effective coaching, mentoring and performance management practices.
Strategic Quality & Compliance Leadership:
- Develop and deliver the site’s Quality and Compliance Strategy in line with Worldwide Fruit business objectives.
- Provide strategic direction for quality standards, compliance performance and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure quality management systems remain effective, efficient and aligned with business, customer and certification requirements.
- Establish a culture where quality and food safety are embedded within all operational decision making.
- Drive simplification and standardisation of systems and processes where appropriate.
Provide governance and oversight of the Apple Way Food Safety Management System:
- Ensure continued effectiveness and compliance.
- Maintain strategic oversight of HACCP, TACCP, traceability, pest management, hygiene and quality management systems.
- Ensure technical and compliance risks are effectively identified, assessed and mitigated.
- Review compliance performance and ensure appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
- Ensure the business remains up to date with emerging legislation, industry standards and customer requirements.
Customer & Certificate Excellence:
- Provide leadership and direction to ensure the site remains BRCGS AA+ Unannounced Certification and Soil Association Organic Certification.
- Ensure site processes are aligned with customer standards and requirements.
- Support the successful delivery of customer and third-party audits.
- Lead the escalation and resolution of significant customer complaints, quality concerns and compliance issues.
- Promote a culture of continual audit readiness across the business.
Quality Performance & Continuous Improvement:
- Develop and monitor site quality performance measures and KPI’s.
- Review quality trends and lead strategic improvement initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction and product consistency.
- Work cross-functionally to drive improvements in quality and labelling performance, waste reduction and operational efficiency.
- Sponsor and lead improvement projects using recognised continuous improvement and change management methodologies.
- Ensure learning from audits, complaints and internal incidents is translated into sustainable business improvements.
Performance Data & Insight:
- Ensure systems are producing accurate and reliable data that gives us a clear view of performance.
- Make sure we are bringing together the right data and intel to understand what is driving performance and where action is needed.
- Ensure system data and intel are available at the right time to support better decisions and enable us to respond quickly to performance issues.
Health, Safety & Sustainability:
- Promote the highest standards of Food Safety, Health & Safety and Environmental responsibility.
- Support the Company’s sustainability objectives and environmental commitments.
- Champion good housekeeping, waste reduction and best practice throughout the business.
