A Taste of The Job

As a Shift Engineer at G&J Distillers in Warrington, our flagship distillery and bottling site, you’ll be part of a small but mighty team keeping operations running smoothly around the clock. Reporting to the site engineering manager, you’ll play a key role in planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring our fast-paced bottling, distillery, and warehousing operations perform at their best.

From machine changeovers to troubleshooting automation systems, you’ll be at the heart of production, reducing downtime, maximising uptime, and making sure every bottle leaves our site to the highest standard. This is a hands-on role where your technical expertise and problem-solving mindset will make a real impact every single shift.

Your impact will include

Maintenance Excellence – Perform both planned and reactive maintenance on bottling, distillery, and warehousing equipment.

Troubleshooting – Use strong fault-finding skills to diagnose and resolve issues quickly.

Technical Expertise – Work with electrical control systems, PLCs, and automation to keep operations running smoothly.

Changeovers & Upgrades – Support product changeovers and improvement projects to boost efficiency.

Collaboration – Partner with colleagues across production to minimise downtime and keep lines running.

Safety First – Operate with a strong commitment to health & safety at all times.

You’re a multi-skilled engineer with a hands-on approach, a sharp eye for problem-solving, and a proactive mindset. You enjoy the buzz of FMCG production, thrive under pressure, and work best as part of a close-knit team.

You will bring:

NVQ Level 4 / HNC / recognised apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.

Proven experience with electrical control systems, PLCs, and automation.

Background in FMCG, bottling, or canning (desirable but not essential).

Familiarity with CMMS systems and strong fault-finding skills.

A collaborative, can-do attitude and the initiative to get stuck in.

A strong commitment to working safely and efficiently in a high-paced environment.
