Join our dynamic team as a Respiratory Therapist, where you'll master critical skills in a fast‑paced, high‑impact environment. As a vital member of our multidisciplinary team, you will have the autonomy to perform advanced respiratory care across diverse settings, including ICU, ER, and beyond.
Key responsibilities include:
- In ICU: Take charge of ventilator management, assist with bronchoscopies, perform arterial line insertions, manage intubation/extubation, and deliver high‑flow oxygen therapy and noninvasive ventilation.
- In ER: Lead airway management, conduct external transport of critical patients, and provide essential assessments and patient education, all while administering high‑flow oxygen therapy.
- In Ward: Be at the forefront of CCRT response, deliver expert trach care, perform breath stacking, arterial blood gas analysis, and respond to codes with precision and expertise.
- On the Maternal Floor: Play a crucial role in high‑risk deliveries, providing invasive ventilation and nCPAP for neonates, ensuring the best possible outcomes.
- In Outpatient: Utilize your skills in Pulmonary Function testing, delivering specialised care to patients of all ages.
You’ll also have the opportunity to supervise and mentor RT students during their clinical placements, shaping the next generation of professionals. Required:
- Must be a graduate of an Accredited Program of Respiratory Therapy, or a future graduate or RT student actively pursuing CMRTO certification.
- Current certificate of registration in good standing of the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (unless a future graduate or RT student).
- Current CPR or BCLS certificate.
- Current ACLS or required to complete within 3 months of hire.
- Must be available for all shifts including but not limited to 12‑hour day and night shifts.
- Must be available for callback (rotational basis) on evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
- Available to participate in inter‑site/inter‑regional hospital transport of patients requiring the support of a registered RT.
- Ability to perform teaching functions to both students and patients.
Preferred:
- 1‑year recent experience in acute care.
Duties:
Performs a variety of complex respiratory treatments, pulmonary and cardiac stress testing requiring use of professional judgement. Professional application of principles, theories, and techniques of respiratory therapy technology to be used to produce reliable test/treatment results which in turn are used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
