Position Summary
Join our dynamic team to provide comprehensive occupational therapy services within acute care and rehabilitation settings. You\\\’ll conduct patient assessments, develop tailored treatment plans, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include prescribing therapeutic equipment, recommending minor environmental adaptations, and addressing mobility needs. OTs support the functional aspects of activities of daily living, including introducing adaptive aides to make tasks more manageable. You\\\’ll also maintain detailed patient records, communicate progress to physicians and caregivers, and offer consultation services. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who is passionate about enhancing patient outcomes through expert care and collaborative practice.
Responsibilities
- Assess the suitability of the referred patient to benefit from occupational therapy.
- Complete assessments and implement treatment plans for adults, relative to the scope of practice of Occupational Therapy, within acute care and/or rehabilitation environments.
- Work as part of a larger interdisciplinary team.
- Complete prescriptions of therapeutic equipment, minor environmental adaptations and seating/mobility needs, as appropriate.
- Review and communicate plans and goals of occupational therapy activities with clients, caregivers and other team members.
- Maintain appropriate written records of assessment, treatment plan, progress and discharge as per guidelines of Quinte Health.
- Keeps physicians informed of patients\\\’ progress by way of written reports or face-to-face communication.
- Provide consultation services to caregivers and external agency staff related to OT programming.
- Monitor program and discharge clients as appropriate.
- Maintain required workload statistics.
- Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives at Quinte Health as required.
- Participate in staff meetings, case conferences and continuous quality improvement activities and projects as required.
- Attend conferences, courses and in-services to upgrade knowledge and technical expertise.
- Must be able to accept direction and work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work closely with patients and hospital staff.
- Able to work in a high-stress and fast-paced work environment.
- Able to work independently while maintaining an efficient and effective practice.
- Able to work weekdays and weekends between Belleville, Trenton and Picton hospital locations.
- Performs other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Current Certification of Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, or eligible for registration with a provisional license from the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
- Minimum of 200 hours working in direct OT patient care situations with neurological and/or orthopaedic conditions within the last 12 months (may include student placement hours).
- Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review)
