The Accounting Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the financial activities of the UK finance department within the organisation. This position requires a seasoned accounting professional with strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. The Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in leading the accounting team, implementing financial processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensures compliance with financial regulations and policies.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (UK GAAP and IFRS).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Complete month-end closing procedures.
- Liaise with clients for finance and accounting issues.
- Have a detailed understanding of the scope of work of the client so that they can verify that their department's Service Level Standards are being maintained.
- Lead and manage the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the accounting department.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures.
- Support the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors.
- Address audit inquiries and implement recommendations for process improvements.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and ensure the organization's compliance.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address accounting-related regulatory requirements.
- Review and ensure compliance with tax authority as deemed necessary.
- Maintain financial systems, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as finance, operations, and legal, to ensure alignment on financial matters.
- Provide financial expertise and support for cross-functional projects.

- Degree educated and a qualified accountant either ACCA, CIMA, ACA or qualified by experience.
- Proven experience in a senior accounting role, with a strong understanding of UK GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Accounting Manager/Controller is required.
- Working knowledge of IFRS / UK and /or Spanish GAAP.
- Progressive experience in financial operations, planning, budgeting, and reporting.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting systems.
- Proficient in accounting software and financial systems.
- Expert knowledge in Excel needed including VLOOKUP's, formulas, and Pivot Tables, including maintenance of financial model.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgement.
- Must be able to adapt and flex to a changing environment.
- Ability to interpret, analyse, and trend large amounts of data.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to multitask and balance multiple high priority tasks.
- Ability to develop timely deployment of accurate, consistent, user-friendly management reporting, as needed.
