Job Purpose
To lead and develop a team of High Pressure Maintenance Specialists (Senior Maintenance Technicians) to deliver and oversee the safe, high quality, efficient and cost effective provision of critical spares refurbishment, machines work and high-pressure maintenance and assurance in support of Teesside manufacturing, with a specific focus on LDPE and its bespoke high-pressure equipment requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide functional and line leadership to the High-Pressure Maintenance Specialists, including the setting of personal objectives, carrying out competency and performance reviews, providing first-line technical support and the day-to-day operational management of the team in line with the relevant policies, procedures and the business needs.
- Work with key stakeholders (Line Management & Plant Management Team (PMT) to understand the priority areas where the FLM role has the greatest impact on the operational performance of LDPE and develop plans, actions, systems and processes that ensure delivery.
- Own and manage the LDPE maintenance workshop and storage facilities, ensuring all machinery, equipment remains compliant with relevant regulations such as, HASAWA, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH.
Ensure, equipment and workshop areas are managed to the highest quality of engineering hygiene and housekeeping.
- Manage Critical Spares and High Pressure Equipment through the refurbishment process to reduce operational risk (availability and quality) and maximize reliable production of the assets, including the ‘Off Site’ refurbishment loop.
- CMMS management of critical spares within SAP installing, removing equipment items generating refurbishment workorders, optimizing costs for refurbishment processes.
- Support Asset Engineering team with the development and subsequent administration of the annual CAPEX budget for the refurbishment of high value critical spares.
- Develop and implement the working practices and systems required to ensure robust QA/QC oversight and control of high-pressure and critical equipment with the aim of delivering ‘first time right’ maintenance to meet the business needs.
- Provide leadership and supervision for key aspects of work delivery utilizing SABIC, contracted resources, interaction with multiple third party vendors as part of a complex refurbishment loop.
- Develop, review, plan and deliver ‘pitstop’ and ‘maintenance event’ activities; typically machine based maintenance either in rectification of defects or proactive changes/inspections.
- Compliance management and report writing, manage and undertake machine inspections post training enabling inspections to be undertaken and reports to be documented and recorded within CMMS.
- Supervise SABIC and contracted resources to deliver the machinery care program requirements on LDPE.
- Contribute and be a member of the Environmental, health, safety and security culture across operational sites -Including participation within audit schedule and EHSS committee forums.
- Carry out RCA investigations and form part of the reliability and loss accounting review team. Provide first line investigative feedback to technical department.
- Identify and propose changes to working practices to improve the provision of the service in terms of EHSS, quality, schedule, cost and productivity (CI Process).
- Quality build and QA/QC management of documentation in accordance with ISO 9001.
Ability to track and trace equipment refurbishment processes, ensuring correct tolerances and specifications have been adhered to.
- Oversee high pressure specialists training curriculum ensuring all technicians are trained and remain compliant with requirements for their specific roles.
- Review, develop and deliver training programs to maintenance contract groups and in-house operations technicians in both upskilling opportunities and refresher-based training activities.
- Ability to support plant production requirements outside of regular hours when required, including the selection and mobilization of high pressure specialist team to support fast paced breakdown scenarios.
- Maintain records and report key data in the appropriate system / format to manage the service provision of the team, measuring their performance and output to drive effectiveness and efficiency.
Requirements
- Qualified in a relevant technical discipline (HNC or higher preferred) with experience in the petrochemical industry within a first line management (FLM) role.
- Proven leadership skills, preferably with a recognized leadership / management qualifications, and experience of leading small teams in the delivery of high quality engineering outcomes.
- Demonstrate a proactive attitude to work and an ability to learn and share technical knowledge – Further education self-development, communication skills and emotional maturity.
- Proven ability to work successfully in a collaborative and flexible way in support of business critical requirements (inc. flexible response to in and out-of-hour emergency and urgent support requests).
- Demonstrate the ability to lead the delivery of QA/QC standards and have the aptitude and discipline to influence others to maintain these standards.
- Demonstrate the capability and behaviours to fully engage with SABIC’s Management and IT systems (MPs, SHEMs, SAP, MS Office, DRS) and ensure appropriate records and documentation are maintained by self and team.
- Have or are willing to gain relevant competencies, skills, licenses and approvals to fulfil all role accountabilities.
