Job Purpose

A central member of the Treasury function, with responsibility for ensuring payments are made accurately and on time, whilst providing an efficient and responsive administrative service for all banking and finance interactions.

The group processes thousands of payments every year, which need to be managed both accurately and efficiently.

The role will act as the primary point of contact for day-to-day banking matters, ensuring that transactions are processed accurately, controls are maintained, and banking records remain up to date.

The candidate will be an integral member of the Treasury team alongside the Head of Corporate Finance and Treasury and the Assistant Treasurer, helping to manage cash resources (debt, equity and income), ensuring all debt facilities are compliant and maintaining good financial risk management.

Quintain has £1.1bn total debt facilities and this role will provide the opportunity to be involved across our financing transactions.

The individual will also work closely with the Investment and Corporate Finance team (particularly for new lending, loan reporting and business plan forecasting) as well as the wider group finance function.

Key Accountabilities

  • Review all banking platforms daily, prepare bank reconciliations for all bank accounts, and ensure cash transactions are accurately recorded and posted to the accounting system in a timely manner.
  • Working with the Accounts Payable team to process all Faster payments, CHAPS payments, international payments, Inter Account Transfers, BACS Direct and Domestic Bacs payments through online banking platforms (Bank of Scotland and Barclays) by close of business, ensuring sufficient supporting documentation is saved for payment approvers and audit trail purposes.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for day-to-day banking queries and requests, investigating and resolving issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Monitoring of bank mandates to ensure an up-to-date position is maintained.
  • Provide bank account administration support, including the opening of new bank accounts, setup of new users on banking platforms, coordination of account closures, and management of account amendments as required.
  • Maintain interest accrual schedules, prepare and post quarterly interest accrual journals and prepare interest accrual balance sheet reconciliations for the quarterly group management accounts.
  • Maintain and update the summary schedule of Quintain’s debt facilities across the group.
  • Assist with ad-hoc information requests from the wider business and external auditors.
  • Assist with treasury projects, process improvements, and other treasury-related activities as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of lender compliance reporting, including the Quarterly Management Report preparation.
  • Assist with the monthly cashflow report -Treasury.

General Accountabilities

  • Undertake additional relevant duties which fall under the general scope of the role, as directed by your Manager, raising any issues with capacity so they can be properly managed.
  • Participate in the full year and half year Performance Development Review process as reviewer and reviewee, meeting the standards and timescales required by the Company.
  • At all times ensure that you’re understanding and skill level regarding the Company’s IT systems are up to date, as applicable to your role.

Undertake IT training as required to ensure full and proper use of the available technology.

Qualifications/Experience/Skills

  • Responsive, proactive, organised approach.
  • Desire to take ownership of and responsibility for certain aspects of Quintain’s Treasury operations.
  • Good understanding of banking operations and payment processes, including experience in processing electronic payments; completing bank reconciliations; and investigating reconciling items.
  • Previous experience using accounting systems is essential, including posting of journals.
  • IT literate with intermediate Excel skills.
  • Excellent eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Relevant experience within a Treasury function preferable.
