Job Purpose
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team, responsible for ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of electrical systems within residential and commercial properties. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, hands-on experience with electrical maintenance procedures, and the ability to diagnose and resolve electrical issues promptly.
Key Accountabilities
- Routine Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems in residential and commercial properties. Identify and address potential issues to prevent breakdowns and ensure the safety and reliability of electrical equipment.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems in a timely and efficient manner. Execute necessary repairs, replacements, or upgrades to electrical components and systems.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant codes, standards, and regulations. Implement safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure working environment.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Create and update documentation related to electrical systems and equipment.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other maintenance professionals, contractors, and stakeholders to coordinate and execute electrical projects. Communicate effectively with property owners, tenants, and management regarding maintenance schedules and updates.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency electrical issues, providing quick and effective solutions to minimise downtime and potential hazards.
- Upgrades and Installations: Participate in the planning and execution of electrical system upgrades and installations to meet evolving property needs and technology advancements.
- Training and Development: Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and best practices. Provide training and guidance to junior staff or property occupants on electrical safety measures and best practices.
General Accountabilities
- Undertake additional relevant duties which fall under the general scope of the role, as directed by your Manager, raising any issues with capacity so they can be properly managed.
- Participate in the full year and half-year Performance Development Review process as reviewer and reviewee, meeting the standards and timescales required by the Company.
- Ensure that your understanding and skill level regarding the Company’s IT systems are up to date, as applicable to your role. Undertake IT training as required to ensure full and proper use of the available technology.

- Work within the Company’s policies and procedures, governance framework, and standards, as detailed on the Company’s intranet.

- Use materials and resources effectively and efficiently to minimise waste and always consider the impact of potential actions alongside our Sustainability policies and goals before taking business decisions.
Qualifications/Experience/Skills
- Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical systems within high-rise residential developments.
- Competent in carrying out EICR testing, completing certification, and ensuring compliance with current electrical regulations and safety standards.
- Strong fault-finding skills on electrical systems including lighting, emergency lighting, power distribution, and lighting control systems.
- Experience working with and supporting BMS/EMS (Building / Energy Management Systems), including monitoring, basic programming support, and fault diagnosis.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications relevant to complex residential buildings.
- Conduct regular inspections and planned preventative maintenance to ensure system reliability, resident safety, and minimal downtime.
- Knowledge of safe working practices in occupied buildings, including permit systems and coordination with other trades and facilities teams.
- This role may involve an element of lone working or working alone which will be discussed between you and your line manager. Training will be provided, where required.
- In principle, hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, working five days per week between Monday and Sunday. Daily working hours are 7.5 hours per day. The rota start time and finish time will vary between the office hours of 8am and 8pm.
- Please note that working hours may vary due to business demands and availability to assist in resolving problems with customers outside of normal working hours may be required, especially by telephone.
