Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant / Assistant Accountant to join our finance team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting skills while supporting the day-to-day financial operations of a growing organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- maintaining purchase and sales ledgers.
- Reconcile in supplier and customer accounts
- Completing daily/monthly bank and account reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
- Processing transactions and maintaining accurate records using Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks.
- Supporting month-end and year-end processes, including journals, accruals, and prepayments.
- Maintaining and reconciling Intercompany accounts
- Preparing and submitting quarterly Covenant reports
- Submitting VAT returns, payroll administration, cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Preparing financial reports and maintaining accurate financial documentation.
- Supporting audits, financial controls, and compliance requirements.
- Providing general finance administration and supporting process improvements.
Essential Criteria
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Working in a Accounts Assistant at least 4 years
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Expertise with using Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally.
- Proactive, reliable, and organised approach.
- Have experience with covenant reporting
- Experience with Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks.
- Understanding with using HMRC/GOV.UK services and companies house
Desirable
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, or similar role.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting processes.
- AAT / ACCA qualification or currently studying towards an accounting qualification.

Work Location: Haggerston -Office-based, depending on business requirements.
